The firm currently manages media and public relations for one of the most high-profile public policy issues in state history. The firm provides PR in opposition to the controversial "immigration ordinances" being proposed in the Dallas suburb of Farmers Branch, Texas. The firm is managing media relations for multiple lawsuits filed against the city, and is also helping to spearhead a community awareness campaign against a controversial measure that requires apartment owners and managers to verify citizenship of tenants. Carter PR coordinated a grassroots petition drive that allows for a public vote on this measure. The firm also has helped engineer the activities of "Let the Voters Decide," a community group opposed to the ordinance.
All of this work has received widespread coverage in a number of media outlets, such as The Dallas Morning News, The Houston Chronicle, the Associated Press, The New York Times and The Washington Post, just to name a few. Visit Let the Voters Decide at www.votersdecide.org.
Carter PR staff members also helped engineer a successful petition drive in Fort Worth, Texas. The campaign successfully defeated a proposed publicly subsidized hotel that enjoyed the full backing of a local city council. The campaign was a featured case study in the September 13, 2004, issue of PR News, a national trade publication that covers best practices of the PR and marketing industry.
The agency’s principals also managed media and public relations for a redistricting lawsuit against one of the nation’s largest school districts. The issue garnered more than 100 news articles and television reports, including a dozen positive editorials.
Carter PR also handled media relations and key messaging for one of the most high-profile public policy issues of 2004 – a lawsuit against a high school basketball coach that charged him with harassment of a former player. The lawsuit garnered media attention from CNN, Good Morning America, Court TV and the New York Times, just to name a few. Carter Public Relations helped advance its client’s position in the court of public opinion, and successfully shared the story of the legal resolution of all claims.
